I could be wrong on this though, I don't think I ever bothered with a wilderness world long enough to worry about reviving items :PĪs Mrpokegamer hints though, it's totally down to personal preference. Same potential for death loops as Endless mode and the additional negative of not being able to use respawn options (Life giving amulet/Meat Effigy/Touchstones/Telltale Hearts). Everything you built will remain and i believe you can still go and find your corpse and reclaim your gear. You can pick the same/new character and jump straight back into the world at a random location though. Wilderness is just as bad, with death immediatly kicking you back to the character screen. Also, the world does not automatically begin counting down to reset when all players are deadin Wilderness they can respawn at a random world location. It's as close to Don't Starve as DST allows, whilst still giving you some options for abusing ghost mechanics as a solo player.Įndless mode immediatly stops the world feeling dangerous as the punishment for death is so small.Additionally, having died, respawning at the portal in Summer/Winter can easily lead to a death loop where you keep overheating/freezing. In Endless and Wilderness mode, the world regrowth mechanic affects saplings/berry bushes/grass tufts in Survival, when sapling/berry bushes/grass tufts are destroyed, they are gone for good. It's still my preffered gamemode for solo play though. In multiplayer this is no issue, but when there are no living players on the server, a timer starts and the world will reset once it hits 0 (it's around 3mins I believe) so it's not a reliable respawn method when playing alone. In Survival, whilst its possible to respawn at a touch stone, you've got to fly over there as a ghost to do so.
